RegistryPro Doubles Service to Professionals
.Pro domain expands to provide secure and confidential Internet communication to experts who seek the highest assurance in a registry.
Chicago, IL—October 26, 2004—Today RegistryPro is happy to announce that on Monday, November 8 (at noon, Central), engineers, architects and dentists will be able to register a .Pro top-level domain name. Until now, doctors, lawyers and accountants have been the only professionals eligible to register.
RegistryPro now allows applications for members of the three new professions because these groups have important characteristics in common that embody the .Pro extension: strong ethics, association involvement and public interest.
RegistryPro works closely with professional organizations and third-party databases to ensure accuracy in all domain registration approvals, and .Pro applicants are verified against their local, state or federal licensing boards. (Engineers must provide only a few pieces of information, including their license number and licensing authority.)
Beginning November 1, authorized .Pro registrars will be able to participate in a one-week Sunrise period to begin taking defensive registrations for the three new profession categories. In addition, on November 8, RegistryPro will begin offering language-specific PS-SLDs for all professions eligible for a .Pro domain name. For example, an English barrister will now have the choice of registering .bar.pro in addition to .law.pro. The following SLDs will be available:
